Take a look at some of the frequently asked questions we receive from those looking to buy Potting & Propagation products in the UK. You can contact our Customer Service Team or browse our general FAQs for further advice.

What are Potting & Propagation Products?

Potting and propagation products are tools, containers and accessories designed to help gardeners sow seeds, root cuttings, grow young plants and pot them on as they develop. They are useful for raising healthy plants from seed or cuttings and supporting successful plant growth.

What is Plant Propagation?

Plant propagation is the process of creating new plants from seeds, cuttings, divisions or other plant material. It is a cost-effective way to increase plant numbers and grow a wide range of flowers, vegetables, herbs and shrubs at home.

What products are used for Propagation?

Propagation products can include seed trays, propagators, plant labels, module trays, pots, rooting accessories and other equipment designed to create the right growing conditions for young plants and seedlings.

What is a Propagator?

A propagator is a container designed to provide warm, humid conditions that encourage seed germination and root development. Propagators can help improve germination rates and support successful plant propagation, particularly during cooler months.

What is the difference between Potting and Propagation?

Propagation refers to starting new plants from seeds, cuttings or divisions, while potting involves transferring young or established plants into containers to provide more growing space and fresh compost as they develop.

When should I pot on young plants?

Young plants should generally be potted on when their roots begin to fill their current container or module. Moving plants into a larger pot helps provide additional space, nutrients and moisture for continued growth.

Can Potting & Propagation products be used by beginners?

Yes, potting and propagation products are suitable for gardeners of all experience levels. They provide a simple and rewarding way to grow plants from seed, raise cuttings and develop gardening skills.

Can I use Potting & Propagation products for vegetables and flowers?

Yes, these products are suitable for a wide variety of plants, including vegetables, herbs, annual flowers, perennials and many ornamental plants. They are an excellent way to start plants before moving them outdoors.

How do I clean Potting & Propagation equipment?

Clean pots, trays and propagators after use to remove compost, algae and plant debris. Allow equipment to dry thoroughly before storing it in a clean, dry place ready for the next growing season.

Why choose Potting & Propagation products?

Potting and propagation products help gardeners grow plants successfully from the very beginning. Whether you're sowing seeds, taking cuttings or potting on young plants, the right equipment can help improve results, support healthy growth and make plant raising easier and more enjoyable.
